Blog those blogging bloggers!

Now that I've moved from my own blog on my own webserver (that died with said webserver) to livejournal.com (that ended after their server outage the other day when they said they fixed it but it may recurr) and finally to blogger/blogspot here, I figured it was time to talk about blogs. Blogs can be alot of different things depending on the author. Some people seem to think that they like the idea of a diary that anyone can read (I remember my sister's used to protect that shit like their lives depended on it!) like a friend of a friend's blog that turned into a fan script for the Young and the Retarded or some such shit (http://www.livejournal.com/users/troopa if you're interested ... look for the entry with a shitload of comments ... just pop the corn first.) Then there's people who mostly link to kewl shit they see in their travels (http://www.livejournal.com/users/autopsychotic/). Then there are people like me who just comment on society (geek society is still technically a society :) .) And, last but not least, there are blogs like http://www.kevinrose.com/ which is not only entertaining and informative, but you may end up like me adding the RSS feed to your favorite aggragator. I'm not saying there's anything wrong with any of these formats, well maybe a little wrong with the diary thing ... how would you guys like it if I posted descriptions of Gabe's shits ... mebbe with pics? And personally I'm not a big fan of the teenager blog written in K-Leet or Homie-speak, but they must have an audience (even if it is their middle school) so whatever. But blogging has so impacted our [web]society we've turned more than a couple heads in the process. I just found out today MSN has their own blog service (though you need to be logged into MS Passport to make/view a blog.) It's very quickly moving into the same category as webmail, that is to say that though there are plenty of pay-to-blog sites, unless you need the features, most will stick to the free blogs out there. Just my 2 cp of course.

gmail.com geek chic?

Well gmail.com is still in beta, but does it really matter anymore? My wife and I are sitting on a total of 21 invites if anyone wants one!! I remember hearing about gmail ... about the beta ... and asking (well begging) around for invites!! I remember I wasn't the only one. Through a matter of bad timing I got mine about the same time as EVERYONE else I knew!! I gave one to my folks (hey it's better than canada.com addy :)) I gave them to my cousins. But now no one wants one?! I was hoping to find some poor geek not unlike myself ... some poor geek who's been wanting one since the first post on /. about it. But alas ... like dodgeball as a child ... it seems I was chosen last!! Oh well ... if anyone wants one of these ... just ask :) And check out the photo album (should be the other link off of http://www.cs.usask.ca/home/kpp424/ )

First Post

All right so I need to stop being such a /. junky. Anyhow, welcome to my blog. v2 I guess as the old blog got taken down with my old webserver. My life's been kinda hectic lately. I've started my second term towards my Bachelor's degree in Computer Science. I'm working 30+ hours a week at London Drugs. And my son is nearly three weeks old and still not sleeping through the night!! But I can't complain really. I'm happy. Tired, well exhausted, but happy. Seriously though how could you ignore this little guy!! And here's one with mommy :) Anyhow ... I'll probably post once a day. And now I'm tired and going to try and take a nap before the little guy wakes up to eat in the next hour or so. Thanks for watching :)
